Jaya The Cat is a Dutch/American reggae/ska/punk rock band originating from Boston, Massachusetts, but currently based in Amsterdam. The band formed in 1998 and has released four full-length studio albums, one independent release and one live album. The name of the band is speculated to come from the fact they had a cat named Jaya which they drove in their van when going to gigs.
Fake Carreras is actually about doing drugs in Escobar, Holland but it is a really uplifting song. Hearing it live though you can't help but have a dance, a sing and a smile along with these reggae punks. The lyrics "when things get fucked up, that's when I'm happiest" and "I'm sweating and I'm shaking but I'm smiling cause I know it's gonna be okay" are really positive and uplifting.
Probably something that is needed at the moment.
A vision of walking around and imagining my Walkman headphones were actually giant speakers accompanying me forcing the world into dancing and performing their tasks to my music. If I had giant speakers up in the sky blasting my own music then everywhere I went people would have to listen to my music and the world would have a uniform emotion, a sort of interconnectedness. Like an unrelenting soundtrack to which everyone must acquiesce… These are my speakers in the sky.
