A vision of walking around and imagining my Walkman headphones were actually giant speakers accompanying me forcing the world into dancing and performing their tasks to my music. If I had giant speakers up in the sky blasting my own music then everywhere I went people would have to listen to my music and the world would have a uniform emotion, a sort of interconnectedness. Like an unrelenting soundtrack to which everyone must acquiesce… These are my speakers in the sky.

Grade 2 - Bowling Green Lane
Grade 2 are a young oi punk band from Ryde on the Isle Of Wight who formed in 2013 and I saw in November 2018 opening for The Interrupters. I had forgotten about them until a friend sent me a link to their latest album earlier this week. They recently signed to Hellcat Records and released their new album Graveyard Island which was produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong. It's explosive, hook-laden and brimming with confidence. There are a number of tracks that I could have shared, but I am going with Bowling Green Lane which is a rabble rousing, chunky street punk song which is G2 playing to their strengths. Interestingly from the reviews I've read seems to be a bit of an underrated track but it’s all razor guitar and singalong choruses with the obligatory “Oi” half way through. Catchy, bit of Oi and a lot of British punk. Sounds good to me!
