These are one of the most fun
and entertaining bands around. Don't take themselves too seriously and are the
stereotypical kids that never grew up. I saw them twice in 2018 and part of
their show were games such as "Guess what's in Neil’s arsehole?"
Options were a bag of sugar, a teabag and a digestive biscuit. It was a teabag
for those interested and yes, he did reveal on stage for us so he couldn't
cheat. Also human tombola, where the roadie gets raffle tickets taped to him
and then crowd surfed where the crowd grab a ticket. At the draw later the
winner wins free merch. Morris Dancing for the more follicly challenged members
of the audience (they split the room into hair and no hair) and plenty of jokes
and laughs. Along with this entertaining hour, they do play some live music....
They don't do encores but had a sit down cos they're old and waited whilst a
member of the crowd went to the toilet.
From Derby, they formed in 1997, a seven piece, the convenient tag for them
would be ska punk but they are more than that. Featuring two trumpets and a
tenor sax, they have a great brass section which combined with their sense of
fun and innovation made them stand out from the pack. They split in the early
2000's and got back together recently.
I have gone for Pack of Dogs which is a great intro to the band showing a bit
of everything. Good music, great brass and a catchy chorus. They always leave
you with a smile on your face. Chas also closed his solo set at Slam Dunk with
it. Crowd singalong, lots of smiles and laughs. They are always worth checking
out when they play live.
